Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it.
From a distance, each looks like every other horse.
But if one stops the car, or is walking by, one will notice something
quite amazing.
우리집 길 윗쪽의 들판에 가면, 두 마리의 말이 눈에 들어옵니다.
먼 거리에서 보자면 별 특이한 구석이 없는 그냥 평범한 한 쌍의 말이지만,
차를 세우고서 가까이 다가가 보면 놀라운 사실을 알게 됩니다.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind.
His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good
home for him. This alone is amazing.
말 한마리는 눈이 멀어 앞이 보이지 않습니다.
그 말의 주인은 그 쓸모 없어진 장님 말을 -흔히 그렇게 하듯- 없애버리지 않고,
좋은 친구를 만들어 주었습니다,감동스럽게도.

Listening, one will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source
of the sound, one will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.
Attached to her bridle is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know
where she is, so he can follow her.
가만히 귀 기울이면, 어디서인가 종소리가 들려옵니다.
그 종소리의 근원을 찾아보면 들판에 자그마한 말 한마리가 눈에 들어올
것입니다. 그 말의 재갈 물린 곳에 작은 종이 달려 있습니다.
그 종소리로써 앞이 보이지 않는 말은 자신의 친구가 어디있는지 알아,
쫓아갈 수가 있습니다.

As one stands and watches these two friends, one sees how she is
always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell, and then
slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray.
그 두 친구를 지켜보고 있노라면 그 두 마리가 얼마나 긴밀하게 서로를
돌아보고 의지하는지 알 수가 있습니다.
작은 말은 수시로 그 친구가 잘 따라오는지 돌아보아 확인을 하고, 큰 말은
그 작은 말이 절대로 자기를 길 잃고 헤매이도록 놓아두지 않으리라는
믿음을 가지고 천천히 작은 말 쪽으로 걸어갑니다.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away
just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or  challenges.
He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us
when we are in need.
이 두 말의 주인이 해준 것처럼, 하느님도 단지 우리가 완전하지 못하다거나,
문제투성이라거나.. 그런 이유로 우리를 던져버리지 않으십니다.
항상 우리를 돌아보시면서, 때로는 우리 生 속으로 우리를 도울 친구를
보내주십니다.

Good friends are like stars.........You don't always see them,
but you know they are always there .
좋은 친구란 별과 같습니다. 별이 항상 눈에 보이는 것은 아닐지라도 우리는
별이 거기 있다는 것을 잘 알고 있지 않은가요.


지난 몇일 동안은, 어찌했으면 좋을 지 모를 매우 어지러운 상황 속에서
어떻게 해야 할 지 모른 채 어지럽게 보냈습니다.  구름은 왜 그렇게도 두껍던지.
비는 또 어째서 그렇게 자주 쏟아지던지.

Every cloud has a silver lining~?
언제던가..어느 영어교재에서 봤었는데..^^;;

그렇게 믿는 것이 속 편하겠지요. 아직은 어느 구름에서도 은테두리를 못 찾아서리.
